Cabo with the girls! 2009

October 2009: This was a much needed and fantastic girls trip!
The Airport: Charity and Karin
Full of fun and adventure, 9 of us set out for San Jose Del Cabo.
Karin and I boarded our BOI-LAX flight with high spirits and way too many carry-ons. LAX-Cabo flight was oversold and we really weren't sure we were going to make it in. As we waited until the final minute for pax check in, our gate agent checked our passports and told us to quickly board that plane. Thanks to the folks who didn't check in on time.. We
LOVE you! We arrived mid after noon to sun sun sun.
The Scam: Charity and Scam man.
Everyone but Karin, Myself, Cindy and Erin had traveled on Sunday. Karin and I going thru LAX and Cindy and Erin going thru SFO. The 4 of us were due to land close to the same time and were going to meet up and share a van. Christina had sent me an email early Monday morning telling me that she had arranged our transportation when we arrived.. We would get Breakfast, shuttle service and a $100.00 certificate for shopping in Cabo.. Oh yeah, and a bottomless boat ride, whatever that is? Sounded good in the email. Small bit of info about me, the whole transportation deal-e-o gives me anxiety. I almost can't handle it. Add that to a foreign country.. bonkers! By the time we landed (and I started agonizing over it about an hour into the flight) and made our way through customs and into the open pit I had worked myself up a good tummy ache. Imagine my surprise when we round the corner and there is a man, holding a sign with my name on it telling me all the good deals my friends had worked up for me... all I needed to do was give him $200.00 for the 4 of us and we would get it all back "tomorrow" after having a wonderful breakfast and viewing a "presentation". I was nervous.. he insisted that Cindy and Erin (left to right) were out front and they agreed to it. We just needed to pay for them because he can't take money on the outside of the airport.. oh golly.. what to do.. When he threw in 2 bottles of tequila, it sealed the deal. (No. We don't drink, but free is free.) We dropped him the $200 bucks. Luckily, outside waiting for us, Erin and Cindy.. and our ride to the resort..
The Resort: Not much to say about it. It was your typical resort.
Beach, Pools, People. Mexico! Typically when traveling to Mexico we do the currency exchange at the airport ATM. (FYI: Always use the ATM as the it gives you the most current currency rate. The airport currency exchangers ball park it.) But because of the fiasco of our ride I neglected to stop by the machine. First item of business: Pesos. It was a journey.. Karin was nearly hit by a speeding bus as we jay-ran across a super busy highway to the local ATM.
To the left is a picture of our bed. Nothing fancy. Over on the right is a picture taken our first night.. Just relaxing and visiting with good friends. Cindy Bard, Jen Fish, Me, Karin Heitz. We were at a swim up bar. Interesting, I had never seen one of those before.
Day 2: The scam continues:
So on the morning of day 2, We rise to meet the sun. Taking in the beauty and the ocean air before we take off to Cabo for the day. Remember, we have to get our "presentation" out of the way so we can get our $200 back and rake in our goodies. We head out early for our pre arranged breakfast and time share.. They promised that it would only be 2 hours including breakfast. It was a beautiful resort.. I will spare all the details as it would be way to hard to convey the 5 hours of hard core selling bliss into the paragraph that I have allowed myself for this section of the post. Needless to say.. promises are nothing in Mexico. What a day. Yes Katherine! A shuttle from the airport to the resort would've been a better choice. And that's all I'm going to say about it.
To the right: Me, Cindy, Karin and Erin. Posing on the doc in Cabo. Below Center: The whole bunch.
P.S. We did get our $200.00 back and 2 bottles of tequila.
